Last week at the World Economic Forum, Swarovski invited leading experts in the field of nature and the environment to join a major panel discussion on ‘Action for Nature’.
Moderated by CNBC’s Tania Bryer, panelists Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder, Red Carpet Green Dress and Author of One Meal A Day; Professor Jonathan Baillie, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, National Geographic Society; Marco Lambertini, General Director, WWF; and Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Swarovski and Chairperson of the Swarovski Foundation, enjoyed a wide-ranging discussion.
- Suzy Cameron talked about the impact of animal agriculture on the planet, and how this can be reversed by reconsidering our diets.
- Jonathan Baillie raised the importance of securing 30% of the planet by 2030, calling for individuals to abandon “business as usual” and change the way they eat, vote, and invest.
- Marco Lambertini urged the audience to reconnect with nature, as nature is essential to human health, wellbeing and prosperity.
- Nadja Swarovski added that corporates are at the heart of driving this change, noting: “For too long businesses have been fixated only on profits. At Swarovski we are focused on the 3 Ps – people, planet and profits – and one does not exclude the other. This requires strategic re- thinking from the very top of other organizations and well as governmental support, but it is possible to make this change.”
