MSS Holding AG is entering the Swiss rental car market with a clear announcement. The Zurich-based company, managed by owner Andreas Buhl, acquires all shares in AIL Autovermietung AG from AIL Holding AG, thereby acquiring the Swiss licenses for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car. With this acquisition, MSS Holding AG positions itself among the leading providers of rental cars and replacement cars in Switzerland. With digital solutions, innovations and synergy effects, the company intends to set itself apart from its competitors and gain market share within the next three years.

The Swiss mobility market is growing at an annual rate of between 4 and 5%. This Swiss market remains attractive and offers good opportunities for growth. The car rental and car sharing business models are converging ever more closely and will merge in a few years’ time. A few months ago, MSS Holding took part in a start-up which developed a unique Car-Sharing platform. The aim is to automate the entire car rental and car sharing process, from booking to return, using this app technology. The credo is: “Spontaneous, simple, transparent and uncomplicated”.

MSS Holding AG, which stands for professional Swissness and innovative strength, wants to open up the Swiss market further with its Brand Enterprise in particular. “With Enterprise, Swiss customers will also benefit abroad, as Enterprise is the world’s leading provider of vehicle rental and mobility solutions”, stresses Andreas Buhl, CEO of MSS Holding AG. The goal of MSS Holding AG is to unite the entire value chain of vehicle mobility under one roof, which is unique in this respect.

“We will not position ourselves through price. Rather, customers and companies are to be won who want to expand or satisfy their services and requirements with flexible mobility and tailor-made offers“, emphasises Andreas Buhl. Further rental stations of Enterprise, Switzerland’s youngest car rental company, are planned for the time being in larger cities such as Zurich, Berne, Lausanne and Geneva. Thanks to Car-Sharing technology and the extensive partner network of MSS Holding AG, the focus will also be on rapid but healthy expansion at other locations. Thanks to its own 24h/365 days Assistancecenter in Dietlikon/ZH MSS Holding AG is aiming to set new standards in the area of customer service. The expansion of electric mobility will also be sought and expanded as part of the general promotion of mobility, which includes intermodal mobility.

“We are convinced that, thanks to our innovative technologies, a flexible and simple rental process, automatic damage detection and control, lean and process-driven structures and group synergies, both in the service and cost areas, we will have a massive impact on the Swiss car rental and mobility market in the coming years,” emphasizes Andreas Buhl.

AIL Autovermietung AG will be renamed MSS Fahrzeugvermietung AG with immediate effect. Until 31.10.2019, operational management will continue to be the responsibility of Hakan Pekin, who will leave the company on 01.11.2019 and take over the management of Auto-Interleasing AG in Muttenz. On the same date, Marco Venturini, long-time Fleet Director of Herold Fahrzeugvermietung AG, will take over the management of MSS Autovermietung AG.

Beat Imwinkelried the Chairman of AIL Holding AG says “We were able to plan and implement the exciting and great first phase of Enterprise‘s development in Switzerland. From today’s perspective, we can be very proud of what our employees have achieved. Now is the time to pass it on. I am convinced that MSS Holding AG with its group of companies will be the perfect new owner for the next phase”.

Michail Mavrovitis, Assistant Vice President, EMEA Franchise Operations, Enterprise Holdings, says: “Switzerland is a key market for Enterprise in Europe and we look forward to working with MSS Holding AG to further expand our local presence. The leadership team has ambitious plans for expansion in Switzerland and a clear commitment to customer service that will enable us to support even more companies and organizations in their mobility needs. MSS Holding AG in turn will gain access to Enterprise’s world-class technology and booking platforms, providing a seamless digital experience for business and leisure customers”.
